Found this little gem:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

05 RT in that rare orange with the GFX.

3.5L HO is a direct bolt in.

Seriously considering it.

After going to look at it I decided against it. There isn’t a panel on the car that’s not rotted and the inside is a disaster.

I’ve heard some pretty amazing sound clips of 2.7L V6s with exhaust.

I had an 06 Stratus sedan with the 2.7. Custom headers and full 2.5" exhaust with a cold air intake and mild tuning. It sounded amazing.

Big block like sound at idle, race car when going flat out. I’ve honestly never heard another V6 that sounds that good.

Little bubbling the in the quarters, nothing beyond repair yet.

For a WI car from 05 with over 200k on the clock, it’s in really good shape in all honesty.

As long as everything else is good and you have a place to work on it , I say go for it!  But with 246,000 miles... I find it hard to believe that there wouldn’t be other worn bits that would need to be addressed.

That thing would be great with the 3.5L. But even the less common 3.2L would be good. It all depends what’s available for cheap at the local bone yard.

Based on what I’ve read, the 2.7L isn’t a bad engine per se. But it was let down by a PCV system that had fixable issues and water pumps that would leak coolant into the oil .

I’ve been in cars with the 2.7... it’s a nice sounding and nice feeling engine even in stock form.

What would be great about a well preserved 13 year old Dodge Stratus? $300 of inflated potential informing short term thinking is the only draw here.

Ours took 218k of pure abuse before we sold it. Last I knew it was still running with over 300k on it.

I sold it because I couldn’t justify spending $4k+ to have the timing chain replaced, when no shop would guarantee the work.

If I’d have known the 3.5L was a direct swap at the time I would have kept it. It was an extremely fun car to drive. Great handling ( e ven before I put it on B&G springs ), great ride, decent interior, good looking ( imo ), and cracked off low 30s for mileage.

We owned an 06 that we loved, although mine wasn’t the RT, it was an SXT V6.

Always kinda wanted another one after finding out the 3.5L is a direct swap.

Given it’s WI, likely hit a deer.

Actually looks exactly like the damage our 06 got from hitting a deer, nothing a rubber mallet underneath can’t fix, or a carbon fiber hood.....

Likely needs suspension/brake work, unless it was a lot of open highway cruising, but that can be done for cheap on these, so it’s no concern.

I can pick up a parts car with a good 3.5 for under $500, so even if I had to rebuild the suspension, I could have a fun/ good running car for under $1k after all is said and done.

They are a riot with the 3.5L, it’s amazing what an extra 50hp/60 -ft lbs does for how quick these cars are!

Ew, cloud car. Engine swap would be cool, though.

I go for a Stratus Coupe- last of the DSMs.

Never cared for the coupe.

Although I’ve heard they are a riot with this swapped in:

Kinja'd!!!

Which funny enough, I had planned on putting in my van before my trans started acting a fool.

I was really hoping it was just the bubbles on the quarters and needing a motor.

Woulda fixed the quarters and thrown a 3.5L HO in and had a nice looking, fun car for cheap.
